The most important thing when laying turf is the preparation. If the area has an old lawn on it, this needs to be cut with a turf cutter, rolled up and taken away. The ground then needs to be rotorvated and any debris or weeds must be removed.

The ground must be leveled to get a fine tilth. The fresh new soil is compacted down with a roller leaving it ready for the new turf to be laid. After the turf is laid, it is rolled again to complete the process.
